Anna's Grandma's
Apple Pie

As I sit here thinking about all the amazing meals I've had in my life, one that stands out in particular is my grandma's apple pie. Every time I bite into a slice, I am instantly transported back to my childhood, sitting at her kitchen table and savoring every single bite.
There's just something about the way the sweet, tender apples are nestled in a buttery, flaky crust that makes this pie absolutely irresistible. And let's not forget the hint of cinnamon and sugar that adds the perfect amount of warmth and depth of flavor.
I remember begging my grandma to share her secret recipe with me, but she always said it was something that was passed down through the generations and was meant to stay within the family. However, now that she's no longer with us, I feel like it's my duty to share this special recipe with others so that they can experience the same joy and comfort that it brings me.
So without further ado, here is my grandma's recipe for the most mouthwatering apple pie you'll ever taste:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
1/4-1/2 cup ice water
6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (I prefer Granny Smith)
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together in a ball. Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out one half of the pie dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish and trim the edges. Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture and dot the top with butter.
Roll out the second half of the pie dough into a 12-inch circle. Cut the dough into 1-inch wide strips and place them in a lattice pattern on top of the pie. Trim the edges and crimp with a fork to seal.
Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Allow the pie to cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. It always brings back such fond memories of my grandma and the love she put into every single dish she made.
